The Top Five Power Forwards in Utah Jazz History
By Greg Foster
No. 3) Paul Millsap
A fan favorite, Paul Millsap became beloved in Utah due to his relentlessness and lunch pail mentality. For seven seasons, ‘Sap put on his hard hat and went to work.
Millsap has never been otherworldly at anything in particular. Instead, he’s solid at just about everything. He’s a proficient scorer with three-point range, fantastic rebounder, willing passer and hard-nosed defender with a motor that never seems to run out of gas.
During his last season with the Jazz, Millsap was one of only five players in the NBA to average at least 14 points, 7 rebounds, 2.5 assists, a block and a steal—along with Kevin Durant, Marc Gasol, Josh Smith and Al Horford. That’s elite company.
Had the Jazz given him the green light to expand his shooting range while giving him more scoring opportunities, I believe Millsap would have been an All-Star before he signed with the Atlanta Hawks.
Nonetheless, he’s still one of the most revered players in Jazz history.
