Grant Jerrett came to Utah in the Enes Kanter trade. The former Arizona Wildcat is a six-foot-ten power forward that averaged only 17.8 minutes per game in college. He often came off the bench and showed promise as a stretch-four by making 32 of his 79 three-point attempts.
Jerrett averaged only 5.2 points and 3.6 rebounds due to his limited minutes and was drafted solely off potential with the 40th pick in the 2013 draft.
The Jazz hoped they could turn him into a stretch big and Jerrett has worked to improve his shooting mechanics. Unfortunately, he dislocated his shoulder in the first summer league game in Utah. No update has been provided, but Jerrett will likely miss significant time.
It’s almost a sure thing that the Jazz will waive Jerrett when roster cuts begin. The forward is due $947,276 this year, but Jazz will likely take the cap hit, as they are still under the salary floor.
Jerrett has potential if he can begin to hit a shot. However, this ranking is based on current talent. As of right now, Jerrett does not look like a NBA player, though he could develop in to one.
