Shooting: Adrian Dantley
Adrian Dantley was historically underrated—as a scorer, as a shooter and overall as a forward. By the time he hung it up, Dantley was a career 54 percent shooter. This is even more incredible as many of his shots were jumpers from outside the paint.
Dantley was a two-time scoring title winner and averaged over 30 points per game in four different seasons. In the seven years he played for Utah, he averaged 29.6 points per game, making him No. 1 in Jazz history.
To put his greatness into perspective, he’s fifth on the NBA list of true shooting percentage: a metric that measures shooting efficiency and takes into account field goals, three-point field goals and free throws.
The guys ahead of him are Artis Gilmore, Cedric Maxwell, Tyson Chandler and James Donaldson—all larger post players.
Adrian Dantley was a deadeye from just about anywhere he could get a shot up, even when facing much larger opponents in the post.
