Thaddeus Young, Brooklyn Nets

Though he has the ability to opt-in for another year with the Brooklyn Nets next season, Thaddeus Young is an intriguing player that could be available to the Jazz this summer.

Young is a proven scorer and a capable rebounder. Although efficiency has occasionally been an issue, Young has been a force since his trade to Brooklyn, connecting on over 52-percent of his field goal attempts, including nearly 55-percent from three-point range. For the season, Young is hitting at a 39-percent clip on above the break three-point attempts.

Defensively, he’s not locking anybody down, but his lateral movement, speed and nearly seven-foot wingspan have allowed him to play passing lanes, switch well on pick-and-rolls and swipe the ball from larger, slower big men. For his career, Young is averaging nearly 1.5 steals per contest.

Like Booker, Young is undersized at the four spot and having both on the roster may be redundant. Where the two differ is in Young’s ability to slide down to the small forward position. I prefer the former, but Young could be an option for the Jazz should they elect to go in a different direction.
