Utah Jazz Tweet Of The Day: Free Basketball

What are Utah Jazz fans talking about? Sometimes funny, sometimes serious, it’s the Utah Jazz Tweet of the Day!

The Jazz start their conquest of the 2014-15 NBA season with a preseason tilt on Tuesday, October 7 against the Portland Trail Blazers in EnergySolutions Arena — there’s always a handy Utah Jazz schedule a click away, right on site, up above with the Utah Jazz Schedule tab.

But we can’t start the season without what’s become an annual tradition for many Utah families: The free scrimmage!

SALT LAKE CITY (Sept. 30, 2014) – Utah Jazz fans will have their first opportunity to see the 2014-15 squad when the team holds its annual intrasquad scrimmage at EnergySolutions Arena on Monday, Oct. 6 at 6:30 p.m. The free event is open to the public with no tickets required for admission.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. All food and beverage concessions, with the exception of beer sales, will be discounted 25 percent from 5-5:30 p.m. Fans are invited to watch the Utah Jazz McDonald’s Dunk Team practice on the court prior to the game along with performances from the America First Jazz Dancers.

Jazz radio broadcaster David Locke will hold a brief Q&A on the court with each individual Jazz player so that fans can “meet the team.” The scrimmage will begin after the interview session.

But wait, as ay-suh, not ass-uh points out…

For many families, mine included, the free scrimmage has become a family event, a tradition that we wouldn’t miss barring a major obstacle.

It gives fans a first chance to see new players like Dante Exum and Rodney Hood, progression from vets like Derrick Favors and Gordon Haywardas well as new-look game plans.

The Jazz often do a door giveaway to the first fans inside the ESA gates, but don’t be too late; fans nearly filled the entire lower bowl last year. The QnA is always chock full of gems, and for several years now the team’s veterans have emceed a Rookie Dance-Off with always hilarious results.

This event is a family night for Utah and Jazz families!

The Utah Jazz’s communications and public relations department has said they will attempt to live stream the free scrimmage event for  international  and cross-country Jazz fans again, as they did last year for the first time.

If you see a great tweet about the Utah Jazz, give us a heads up so we can feature it.
