Marvin has expressed interest in returning to the Jazz next season. He has said that he likes the young core of the Jazz franchise, that he likes the plan that the Jazz have going forward, and that he wants to be a part of that. However, his agent will obviously have to put him in the best situation he can.
Marvin was streaky this season. He was the one that basically won the Jazz their first game of the season. However, he could go ice cold pretty quick. Marvin missed the last four games of the season due to issues with his knee.
When Marvin was playing with a lot of emotion, the other young guys fed off that and so did the crowd. He could start draining threes and swipe the floor with his hand and pump his chest, and everyone knew Marvin was feeling good.
Marvin played well for the most part in a stretch four type situation for the Jazz this season. With most of the NBA looking to go in that direction in the future, stretch four guys are going to be valuable. Marvin played well enough that he will get a decent contract. However, it won’t be a contract that is going to be outrageous.
I think Marvin can help this team in the future. He is still young like the rest of core young guys, only a couple years older than Hayward. He could be a great asset off the bench next season and could be a spark. He needs the off season to take some time off, get healthy, and work on becoming a more consistent shooter, but if he can do that, he could be something the Jazz could very well need next season and beyond.
Prediction: Re-signs with Utah
