Brandon Rush
Rush was another piece that came over from Golden State in the trade earlier this off-season. Rush was recovering from an ACL injury that kept him out all of last season with the Warriors. He is slowly working his way back into playing shape with the Jazz.
I have to say, I was extremely excited to get Rush in this trade. In the past, Rush has been a very good 3 point threat and was extremely quick. I thought if he could get back into shape, that he would be a huge threat off the bench for this team. So far, that hasn’t happened. However, Rush is shooting 44.4% from 3 on the season which is something the Jazz need off the bench.
Here is my concern though. You look at guys like Richard Jefferson or John Lucas III, who Jazz fans really have not been excited about seeing on the court this season, and you look at how they have reacted to this situation with the Jazz. They show veteran leadership and when the young guys do good things, they are the first ones up to congratulate them. Rush seems like he isn’t really interested and that is something I would like to see changed. He could really help this team out. Not just this season either. The Jazz are building around the young guys, but they need to sign guys in this off-season that can come off the bench and try and help build a team to compete for a championship down the road. Rush isn’t acting like he wants to be a part of that.
