Trey Burke

I can still remember draft night when the Jazz made the trade to move up and snag Trey Burke. I don’t think I had been that excited watching the draft ever. The Jazz have been in desperate need of a point guard ever since Deron Williams left. They needed one and they went out and got the best young point guard in the draft.

Trey’s NBA career kind of got off on the wrong note as he broke his finger during pre-season. The injury kept him out of the lineup for the first 12 games of the season. Without Trey, the Jazz were 1-11 in those games, having to rely on John Lucas III and Jamaal Tinsley for help, which wasn’t much help. Since Trey has returned, he has started in 19 of the 21 games he has played in. The Jazz’s record with him as a starter is a very respectable 8-11, (prior to Jazz-Bobcats game).

The one thing that coaches and players alike have said about Trey, is that he is extremely coachable. He listens to what people are trying to tell him to make him better. A lot of young rookies who come into the NBA think that just because they are now NBA players that they know everything. Trey has stayed humbled and is learning everyday. It has really showed on the court.

Trey is the point guard of the future. He is what the Jazz organization and fan base needed. With Trey to add along with these other young guys, the Jazz are going to be a very dangerous team and it could be soon.
