D Day is finally here! Although I reserve the right to change my mind due to information that will come out today, I really want this to be my final mock. I’ve been saying this for a while now, but I really think the Jazz go big with #14 unless: 1. They trade up, 2. A point guard they really like falls, 3. They trade down. I think this draft has the potential for a lot of movement and it should be entertaining. Here we go!

I think Olynyk makes a lot of sense for the Jazz on many levels. He’s ready to play and contribute right now. He has elite passing skills for a big man, he can spread the floor with his range, and he will pick up the Jazz offense quickly. He will be a great glue guy and rotation player for many years to come. He’s the type of player that will reduce the Jazz’s temptation to resign Paul and Al. This offense needs a big man that can pass like Olynyk to function at the highest level possible. I think he can be a Vlade Divac type passing big man.
At 21 if Schroeder is available I think not only is he the best point guard available but has the highest ceiling of any player that would be available. A lot of issues have been put to rest. The more I listen to Walt Perrin’s comments about what he needs to improve on, the more it sounds like a smokescreen. Usually the more a team likes a player the quiter they are. Schroeder should at least be a servicable rotation player but I think he has the talent and potential to become a starter.
Randy Rigby said the Jazz have targeted a player higher than where they are drafting at 14 and are trying to move up. In my opinion I think they are trying to move up to get Burke, Carter-Williams or McCollum in that order. I really think an offer of 14 and 21 to the Kings for Jimmer, 7 and maybe the 36th pick could get it done. Then I would like the Jazz to take Marion and #13 from the Mavericks so they can still draft Olynyk. To me that would be a highly successful draft. No matter what happens though, I’m excited to see what they decide to do and to watch the new players in the Orlando Summer League. The beginning of a new era is right now!
