The Lockout, Players, and Other News

RICHFIELD, UT — 7:41 a.m: If you haven’t heard the “breaking news” yet, the NBA players chose to reject a more-than-fair deal from the NBA, dissolve their own union, and sue the National Basketball Association. This happened yesterday.

Next, we look at the great possibility of Jazz-man Enes Kanter going to play overseas. His main options, so far according to his agent, are Spain (connections with Ricky Rubio) and China. As of yet, there is no deal imminent for Enes. This tweet confirms Kanter’s desire to play basketball:

"@tribjazz: #Jazz‘s EnesKanter is re-evaluating overseas options. wants 2 play somewhere, is tired of waiting around."

In other news, we may in fact see another charity game put on by our very own Jazz players. This event would go to benefit all of the concessions workers, ticket-booth workers, security, ushers, etc. employed by the Utah Jazz and EnergySolutions organizations. In this game, however, we may be able to expect only our current Jazz team members. This tweet from Earl Watson hints at a new charity exhibition:

"So umm… Let’s get this charity game going in Utah for the concession workers! No need to bring in anyone else but our team!"

With that, I can simply give my deepest condolences to the true basketball fans out there. My sole advice to all Jazz fans–all NBA fans–at this point in the labor battle would be to watch NCAA basketball this year, and become realistic about the NBA’s situation. If that means giving hope, so be it. Maybe even some NFL action could help sooth the burn?
