Big Al takes his place at the top of the roster with a 13.04 rating.
The Lou-easy.
Big Al.
Al Jefferson.
Al Jefferson averaged 18.6 points, 9.7 rebounds, 1.9 blocks, 1.8 assists, and 0.6 steals per game for the Utah Jazz in 2010-11. Between his hooks, jumpers, turnarounds, “lou-easy’s”, thunderous dunks, and playing all 82 games in the season, Big Al turned out to be a great acquisition by the Jazz.
Without Al Jefferson, the Utah Jazz would have been far worse throughout the season–he won games, it’s that simple. Jefferson is a franchise player; the offense runs through him. Which, of course, some fans don’t particularly like.
Some fans would even go as far as to say that we need to trade our best player. For who? might I ask.
Andre Iguodala? No, Al Jefferson is too valuable at his position to give away for an overrated guard who averaged a measly 14.1 points per game in 2010-11.
Danny Granger? Nah. The Pacers don’t need another center.
Dwight Howard? (Suppresses laughter) Good luck with that.
The simple and obvious truth is that Big Al is here to stay. It’s the smartest option. The Jazz already traded a marquee player for half his true worth, I highly doubt they would do that again.
There are other options for Utah in the trade market, and almost all of them don’t involve Jefferson. Paul Millsap, Mehmet Okur, and Devin Harris are supposedly up-for-grabs as well. There will be a trade the Jazz make to dissolve their crowded frontcourt, I can guarantee that.
