David Stern has stated on several occasions during the past week that the season will be in unequivocal jeopardy if a deal is not reached at some point throughout the proceeding days.
Federal mediator George Cohen has been appointed to help sides reach a deal, and will begin to meet with owners and players today, Monday, October 17, 2011.
Both sides will meet, with Cohen present, on Tuesday.
There is a collective hope that a deal will be put in place.
The major turning point of negotiations has shifted almost entirely from the BRI (Basketball Related Income) revenue split to the NBA’s systematic issues.
Owner’s pushed for a hard cap, then a flex cap, and are finally still trying to instill a backbreaking luxury tax to make the league more competitive nation wide.
