After 13 long hours of negotiations over two days, the NBA owners and players were unable to establish a new Collective Bargaining Agreement yesterday afternoon.
Consequently, NBA Commissioner David Stern has–permanently–canceled the first two weeks of the NBA regular season. This cancellation accounts for exactly 100 games throughout the league that will not be played between November 1st and November 14th.
David Stern left yesterday’s negotiations saying this:
"With every day that goes by, we need to look at further reductions in what’s left in the season."
Does that mean that there might not be a 2011-12 season? What would the repercussions of a lost season amount to?
Please leave us with your thoughts.
