Utah Jazz: NBA Execs Cancel Entire 114-game Preseason

The National Basketball Association announced Tuesday, October 4th, 2011, that they have canceled the entire preseason schedule, consisting of 114 games.

NBA Commissioner David Stern stated that he will keep an open mind about starting the season later this year, but also that it will be nearly impossible to preserve all, if any, regular season games.

The problem that occurs with having a shortened regular season is the scrutiny any team would receive for winning a title. Like Shaq said of the Spurs in 1999: “…their title should be marked with an asterisk”.

We can always hope for the best, but, at this point, things are looking bleak.
